Outliers ACT Prep: A Public Benefit Corporation
Outliers ACT Prep is a Public Benefit Corporation. That means we are a for-profit company, but our purpose goes beyond making money. Our certificate of incorporation includes a clear public benefit mission, and that mission shapes the way we make decisions and measure success.
Our Vision
We are a group of people with different backgrounds, personalities, and worldviews, united by one mission: helping students change the direction of their lives by building belief, developing character, and learning how to achieve difficult goals.
ACT prep is where that work begins. We train students with the structure, discipline, repetition, and coaching an elite athlete would use to prepare for competition. More than 74% of students who complete the recommended 13-week program improve their composite score by at least five points or earn a superscore of 32 or higher.
The larger goal is growth. Students learn how to stay consistent, respond to setbacks, solve problems, and find a way forward. Those lessons can carry into college, work, leadership, and life.
For some alumni, the journey continues through the opportunity to work with Outliers. We hire former students as coaches and as members of our administrative, marketing, and technology teams, where they continue developing leadership, communication, problem-solving, and professional skills.
Our long-term vision is to build a family of organizations focused on human development. We hope alumni will eventually open new Outliers branches, launch companies, become achievement coaches, lead nonprofit efforts, or help build future sister organizations. ACT prep is the cornerstone, but it is only the beginning.
Our Purpose
To help students transform their lives by building belief, character, and high-impact skills.
Our Core Values
We treat people right.
This is the starting point for everything we do. We want to treat students, parents, employees, partners, and each other with respect and fairness.
We do what we say, or we make it right.
We take our commitments seriously. When we fall short, we own it and do our best to fix it.
We are open to being wrong.
Changing your mind after receiving better information is a strength, not a weakness. We encourage honest and respectful feedback at every level of the company.
We believe in forgiveness.
Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is taking responsibility, making a sincere effort to repair the damage, and learning from what happened.
We are family-friendly.
We want Outliers to be a place where people can do meaningful work while still being present for their families and living balanced lives.
We have thick skin.
We joke, debate, disagree, and speak honestly. We welcome different personalities and points of view as long as people continue to treat one another with respect.
How We Work
Freedom-first culture
We believe people often do their best work when they have freedom and control over their lives. Team members have flexibility over their schedules, projects, and time off as long as they meet their responsibilities and most positions are fully remote.
A path toward financial freedom
We want long-term team members to have opportunities to earn residual income, build wealth, and create greater financial independence.
Purpose over profit
We do not want outside shareholders pushing us toward short-term decisions that conflict with our mission.
We find a way
We do not stop at identifying problems. We look for solutions and keep moving forward.
Extreme ownership
We take responsibility for fixing problems, even when we were not the ones who caused them.
We hire from within
Whenever possible, we hire alumni who already understand our program, culture, and expectations.
No gossip
When there is a problem, we talk directly to the person involved instead of talking around them.
Accountability
Whenever possible, we back our services with a money-back guarantee.
We only launch what we believe we can lead
Before starting a new venture, we ask whether we can become the best, most affordable, or fastest option in the category.
