Before the program begins

Help your student start strong.

A few important steps now will help your student arrive prepared, confident, and ready to get the most from the program. Please complete these early—some registrations fill quickly.

5¼–6¾ hoursEstimated total for every student, plus 3 hours if a baseline ACT is needed.

Your student has several responsibilities to complete before the first day of class. Your encouragement—and a few timely reminders—can keep them from trying to catch up after the program has already begun.

1

Complete student onboarding

About 1 hour

Your student should have received a text message with an onboarding link when your family enrolled. That link walks them through every step they need to complete.

Please make sure they received the message and completed the entire onboarding process.

2

Complete a full ACT before class, if needed

About 3 hours Ā· Conditional

We need an accepted ACT score before your student’s first day. It gives our team an accurate starting point and helps us understand where your student needs the most support.

This is required if your student has never taken an official ACT or if their only previous score is from the PreACT.

We do not accept PreACT scores as a program starting score. Students without an accepted ACT score must take a full-length Mock ACT before class begins.

Your enrollment coordinator will reach out with instructions if your student needs this step. This baseline test is separate from reserving the additional Mock ACT dates below.

3

Register for at least three official ACT dates

About 30–60 minutes

Test centers can fill quickly, so please register early. Your student should reserve these three testing opportunities:

ACT 1 Ā· MidwayUsually 4–6 weeks after the program starts
ACT 2 Ā· Program milestoneAbout 3 months after starting*
ACT 3 Ā· Follow-throughAbout 5 months after starting
*For students who start in February, May, or August, the second ACT will usually be about four months after the program begins.

These dates create opportunities to build a stronger superscore, reduce the pressure on any one Saturday, and give us official results we can use to adjust preparation.

4

Reserve all available Mock ACT dates

About 15 minutes

Mock ACTs help students become comfortable with the test, build endurance, reduce test-day anxiety, and measure progress. Sessions fill quickly, so we recommend reserving every available date now.

Mock ACTs normally cost $30 each, but students enrolled in the program may take all of them at no additional cost. Use promo code student.

5

Attend orientation with their coach

About 30 minutes

This one-on-one orientation is your student’s opportunity to get to know their academic coach before the program begins—and for their coach to get to know them.

The coach will reach out to schedule the meeting. Please make sure your student adds it to their calendar, remembers the appointment, and arrives on time and ready to participate.

6

Read the daily program messages

Begins 2 weeks before class

Daily messages will begin approximately two weeks before the first class. All parents are included in these group chats.

We encourage you to read them. Each message explains one small part of the program, helping you understand how everything works and stay fully aware of what your student should be doing.

If you prefer not to receive these messages, you may remove yourself from the chat at any time.

7

Prepare to earn 100% on the first-day quiz

3–4 focused hours Ā· Most important

This is the most important academic work your student should be doing between now and the first day of class.

The quiz will be more challenging than many students expect. During onboarding, your student has received—or will soon receive—the instructions and materials needed to prepare.

Please encourage them to set aside three to four focused hours and prepare for a score of 100%. A student who aims for complete mastery may ultimately land around 80% or better. A student who prepares only for 80% is much more likely to fall below that mark.

Need help? Your student may ask their coach for a 15-minute Zoom session. These sessions are not guaranteed or included as a formal part of the program, but coaches are happy to provide one when their availability allows.

Complete these steps early

Finishing before the program starts allows your student to focus on learning from day one instead of trying to catch up.
